Time tracking for Cursor

Cursor runs the same Inlinr extension as VS Code, installed from Open VSX. Beats are labelled as Cursor, so your Cursor hours and your VS Code hours stay separate on the dashboard.

Get it on Open VSX

Set it up

  1. 1

Install the Inlinr extension from Open VSX (search “Inlinr” in Cursor's extensions view).

  2. 2

From the command palette, run this, then open the link and approve with GitHub:

    Terminal
    Inlinr: Sign in
  3. 3

Keep coding. The first beats reach your dashboard within a minute or two.

What gets recorded

  • Time per project, branch, language and file, from editor activity
  • Lines added and deleted, and how many an assistant inserted
  • Which assistant made an edit, only when a generated insert was seen
  • The editor and its version, so Cursor and Windsurf are counted apart from VS Code

Good to know

  • · Cursor does not tell extensions its own version, so the version shown is the VS Code build Cursor is based on.
  • · Using Claude Code inside Cursor? Add the Claude Code plugin too, for its token counts and cost.

Never file contents, prompts or replies. The full list of what is sent · What “percent written by AI” can and cannot tell you
